First Announcement to the 8th Cuban Congress on Education, Counseling and Sexual Therapy

“For Schools at the Forefront of Comprehensive Sexuality Education”

From 9 to 14 April, 2018

Convention Palace, Havana, Cuba

Dear colleagues:

In 2018, the Cuban Congress on Education, Counseling and Sexual Therapy celebrates 25 years of its creation. Since then, social actors from the National Program of Education and Sexual Health (PRONESS, Spanish acronyms) have it as a space for scientific dialogue that contributes to the strengthening, diversification and complexity of our goals, targets, tasks and alliances at the service of society.

The National Center for Sexual Education (CENESEX, Spanish acronyms) and the Cuban Multidisciplinary Society for the Study of Sexuality (SOCUMES, Spanish acronyms) aim to highlight the responsibility of schools as one of the most important institutions in the community, and its role in comprehensive sexuality education. Both institutions convene, during the 11th Cuban Activities against Homophobia and Transphobia, the 8th Cuban Congress on Education, Counseling and Sexual Therapy “For Schools at the Forefront of Comprehensive Sexuality Education” from 9 to 14 April, 2018 at the Convention Palace in Havana, Cuba.

The III Meeting of Experts on Programs and Strategies for Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, the VI International Colloquium on Trans-identities, Gender and Culture, the V National Workshop of the National Program of Education and Sexual Health of Cuba (PRONESS) and the III National Technical Meeting on Gender Violence, Prostitution, Sexual Tourism and Trafficking will be held simultaneously. Likewise, it will be a special occasion to strengthen the Network on Comprehensive Sexuality Education of Latin American and Caribbean (REDEIS-LAC, Spanish acronyms) constituted in the previous meeting.

We hope to see you, and we are certain that the 8th Congress will be an unforgettable, enriched experience for professional-scientific knowledge of the participants. It is an opportunity to share ideas, dreams, and utopias that gather and awake us to make it real, and to achieve the peaceful and prosperous world we want for all.

Please, be welcome with friendship, respect and our greatest consideration,
