As part of the activities of the 8th Cuban Congress of Education, Counseling and Sexual Therapy, convened every three years, it has this time the slogan: “Schools at the forefront of Comprehensive Sexuality Education”, and will be held pre-congress activities throughout the rest of the year.
Coordinated by the National Center for Sexual Education (CENESEX), jointly with the Cuban Multidisciplinary Society for the Study of Sexuality (SOCUMES), among other institutions, it constitutes an opportunity to make visible researches related to sexuality and school in different provinces and to socialize the experiences of local experts in issues of comprehensive sexuality education.
The first provinces that will carry out this scientific meeting will be Granma and Sancti Spíritus, from 24 to 26 and from 25 to 27 May, respectively.
The 8th Congress, to be held from 9 to 14 April 2018 at the Convention Palace, will celebrate 25 years as a recognized space for scientific dialogue that contributes “to the strengthening, diversification and complexity of our goals, targets, tasks and alliances at the service of society”, according to the first socialized announcement.
The III Meeting of Experts on Programs and Strategies for Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, the VI International Colloquium on Trans-identities, Gender and Culture, the V National Workshop of the National Program of Education and Sexual Health of Cuba (PRONESS) and the III National Technical Meeting on Gender Violence, Prostitution, Sexual Tourism and Trafficking will be held simultaneously.
Likewise, it will be an occasion to consolidate the efforts of the Network on Comprehensive Sexuality Education of Latin American and Caribbean (REDEIS-LAC) constituted in the previous meeting.
